A Jewish Wedding Spectacle at Excelsior Hotel Gallia, Milan

Some weddings are a ceremony with a party after. This one was closer to a full stage production, held inside the Duomo Ballroom at the Excelsior Hotel Gallia, right by Milan’s Piazza Duca d’Aosta.

Once again, I was booked by Benny Fadlun & the MazalTovBand, who provided the live soundtrack for the night and this time the entertainment went well beyond a band on stage. A full show ran through the evening: dancers in 1970s-style costumes, a Michael Jackson tribute number, an elaborate set design built specifically for the celebration, hundreds of guests filling the ballroom for one of the more lavish Jewish weddings I’ve filmed.

Given the scale of the night, I worked alongside Daniele Mileto, Keydioma, on a second camera, and for the edit I chose Carmina Burana as the soundtrack leaning into the sheer scale and drama of the party itself rather than a quieter, more traditional wedding-film pace.

This one came my way through Stefano Fazio of CiakMontaggi, a fellow filmmaker based in Rome, who connected me with Benny in the first place the kind of introduction between colleagues that’s led to some of my favorite jobs.
