It rained the entire morning of Luca and Rebecca’s wedding steady, relentless, the kind of rain that doesn’t let up whether you’re walking into the church of San Genesio in Dairago or walking straight back out of it. And then, almost as if it had been waiting for its cue, the sky cleared right as everyone arrived at Cascina Galizia. The aperitif went ahead outdoors exactly as planned, sunshine and all.
Cascina Galizia sits inside the Parco del Ticino, right along the Naviglio Grande, surrounded by natural spring water and more than 13 hectares of green the kind of setting that makes an outdoor celebration feel like it’s tucked away from the rest of the world. Rebecca got ready there on site before the ceremony, while Luca prepared at home in Dairago; both of them returned to the same cascina afterward for lunch and the rest of the celebration.
With the sun back out, there was time for a walk with the couple’s closest friends and a quiet portrait session together before dinner moved indoors. Once the tables cleared, the party moved out under the portico and it wasn’t just the younger guests dancing. Grandparents and grandchildren, side by side, all in on it together, which is always one of my favorite things to catch on camera.
The standout shot of the day, though, was the cake cutting: Luca and Rebecca up front, all their guests gathered behind them, the whole scene filled with soap bubbles drifting through the air as the backdrop. Simple idea, genuinely beautiful result.
Luca and Rebecca themselves were some of the sweetest, most easygoing people I’ve worked with same team as usual behind the camera, with Bottega Incontroluce on photography and Daniele Mileto, Keydioma, on second camera.
