Matteo and Tecla got ready at home in Novate Milanese, their young child right there with them through the morning that particular kind of chaos and warmth that comes with a wedding day that’s also just another day in a family’s life. From there, the ceremony was held at the Madonna in Campagna church in Bollate, simple and understated, before everyone made their way to Villa Patrizia in Magnago for the reception.
Villa Patrizia has a bit of a reputation of its own a white-columned, colonial-style villa set inside the historic Parco del Conte Treccani, with a pool that mirrors the building at dusk and enough “Hollywood” polish that more than one couple has described it as their dream location at first sight. I’d already filmed a few weddings there by this point, so walking in already knowing the light and the angles that work best made the day easier to move through.
The one moment that really stood out: every single guest let a balloon go into the sky at the same time, and I had the drone up to catch the whole thing rising together over the villa one of those shots that only works because of good timing and a bit of luck with the wind. Photography that day was handled by Nadia Sutera. The rest of the day followed the usual rhythm music, dancing, good food, plenty to drink but that balloon release is the shot I still think about.
I shot and edited this one solo, cutting it down to a tight 3-minute film.
