Bennit & Daniela — A Wedding at Villa Necchi alla Portalupa

I’ll say it plainly: I love a wedding filmed entirely in one location. No car convoys, no lost time on transfers, no parking chaos, no chasing a schedule between three different addresses. Everything just happens, one part after another, in the same place and Villa Necchi alla Portalupa, tucked inside the Ticino Park near Vigevano, is exactly that kind of venue.

Bennit, German, and Daniela, Italian but living in Germany, chose to bring their wedding back to Italy and build the whole day around this one estate a 19th-century residence once frequented by European nobility, with its own small chapel consecrated in 1959, now used for the ceremonies held there. The couple walked in together, hand in hand, for a ceremony right on site both of them visibly nervous at first, Daniela soft and emotional, Bennit more composed, the two of them gradually loosening up as the day went on into something genuinely relaxed and unguarded. Beer made an appearance, as it should for a German groom, and the only real complaint of the day came from the mosquitoes, not the schedule.

For the film itself, I used the couple’s own vows as voice-over recorded in English, which somehow always lands just right in a wedding film layered under the footage instead of leaning on music alone. It’s part of how I build the story of a day rather than just cutting it to a soundtrack, and it’s become something of a signature in how I approach storytelling.
