A Jewish Wedding Ceremony in Milan

Not every wedding I film is the full day sometimes it’s just the ceremony, and sometimes that’s more than enough to make something worth sharing.

This one was a Jewish wedding, filmed on a winter day in the central synagogue in Milan, Via Guastalla. It’s a quieter, more contained kind of shoot: no reception to plan around, no reveal shots or golden hour to chase just the ceremony itself, with all the ritual and rhythm that comes with a Jewish wedding specifically.

The whole thing was commissioned by Benny Fadlun and the MazalTovBand, a Rome-based band that’s become one of the go-to names for Jewish wedding entertainment in Italy and beyond, for couples who choose Italy as their wedding destination. In the film, I used their own live cover of “Ishty,” reworked by Benny specifically for the occasion. Cutting a wedding film to a version of the song made for that exact couple is a nice reminder of how much these musicians shape the emotional weight of the day, well beyond just providing the soundtrack.
