Not every project behind this camera involves a wedding dress. This time it was gloves, wraps, and a ring a short series filmed at New Action Gym in Senago, a training space that’s been running for over 30 years and covers everything from Muay Thai and K1 to Ving Tsun and more.

I put together four films from time spent there: two focused on individual fighters training solo, one cutting between both of them, and a fourth following a professional kickboxer through her full pre-fight routine from cracking her knuckles in the locker room to working the ring, ahead of her professional bout at Ringmania World Series on October 24th.
All of it was shot on the Nikon ZR in 4K RAW at 50fps, with the Blazar 35mm anamorphic (via a Megadap ETZ21 Pro adapter) giving the footage that compressed, filmic character I keep coming back to for this kind of work. Combat sports are a genuinely different discipline to film compared to weddings faster, more unpredictable, no second take on a real exchange but that unpredictability is exactly what makes it satisfying to cut together afterward.
Big thanks to New Action Gym (@palestranewaction) in Senago for the access.
