Federico & Carla — The Bellastoria Wedding Festival at Villa Fassati Barba

Not every wedding follows the same script, and Federico & Carla’s definitely didn’t. They called it their own wedding festival, and that’s really what it was colourful flowers everywhere, a looser, more playful energy than a typical ceremony, and a guest list that showed up ready to celebrate rather than just watch.

It rained for most of the day. Villa Fassati Barba, in the Brescia countryside, handled it without missing a beat the kind of historic estate that looks just as good under grey skies as it does in full sun, with plenty of covered space to keep the party going regardless of what the weather decided to do.

I shot and edited this one solo, in 4K, which is a different rhythm than working with a second camera you’re constantly choosing what to prioritize rather than splitting coverage, but it keeps you locked into the day in a way I genuinely enjoy.

The wedding was designed by Mentalatte, who lean into exactly this kind of unconventional, festival-style celebration, and photography was handled by Bottega Incontroluce Valeria and Maurizio, who I’ve been working alongside for years at this point. That kind of long-running collaboration makes a real difference on the day: less coordinating, more just getting on with capturing what’s actually happening.
