Ben and Anne came to Lake Maggiore from abroad for their wedding Anne is English, Ben is Australian and the lake gave them exactly what they were looking for: that particular kind of elegance that only comes from centuries-old villas, still water, and light that changes every twenty minutes.
The ceremony was held at the Chiesa Vecchia di Santa Maria in Belgirate, a small church right on the water with one of the most striking settings on the whole lake, before everyone moved on to Castello Dal Pozzo a neo-gothic castle set in the hills above Lake Maggiore, with the kind of historic, slightly wild grandeur that makes a reception feel like a scene from another era entirely.
The day was planned by Chiara Viarisio, who works often on the lake and knows how to make an international guest list feel completely at ease in a foreign country. Photography was in the hands of Federico Valenzano, whose documentary style fit the day well. On the second camera, working alongside me, was Raffaele Ferrazzano of Kisset Films the same team I’d later work with again on Daria & Alessio’s wedding at Villa Rusconi Clerici, not far from here.
