Valentin & Katja — An Intimate Elopement at Lake Maggiore

No big guest list. No seating chart. No stress about the weather forecast three months in advance. Just Valentin, Katja, their two witnesses, and Lake Maggiore doing what it does best.

They chose Ispra for their elopement on August 5th — a quieter corner of the lake, away from the more touristy spots, with just enough space to breathe and just enough backdrop to make everything look effortless on camera.

Elopements like this one are, honestly, some of my favorite days to film. There’s no schedule to manage, no fifteen family members to coordinate, no reception timeline hanging over the afternoon. Just two people who decided the day should be about them — and their witnesses, who clearly knew exactly why they were there.

The ceremony was short, unscripted in all the right ways, and over faster than anyone expected — which is usually how the best ones go. Afterward, we had the entire lakeside pretty much to ourselves: no crowd to work around, no rush between locations, just good light and two people who were visibly relieved the “official” part was done.

If you’re considering an elopement on Lake Maggiore — whether it’s just the two of you or a handful of the people who matter most — Ispra is proof that you don’t need a guest list of 100 to make a wedding film worth watching.
