October on Lake Como isn’t supposed to feel like summer, but for Ned and Jazzy’s wedding, it did anyway an unusually warm day, with that particular autumn light that’s softer and lower than anything you get in July, and arguably more flattering for every single shot of the day.
Ned Balme, a television personality back home in Australia, married Jazzy at Villa del Balbianello and for one day, she was every bit the queen of the lake. The ceremony done, everyone moved across to Villa Teodolinda in Laglio for the party, swapping the Balbianello’s manicured gardens for the more intimate, waterfront elegance of the villa in Laglio.
This is genuinely one of my favorite weddings I’ve ever filmed. Everything about that day came together close to perfectly the couple, the weather, the two locations working off each other rather than competing. I was on gimbal and drone for this one, with Andrea Fantoni on second camera and myself editing afterward. Photography was handled by Gabriele Basilico, and the whole day was planned by The Lake Como Wedding Planner, led by Rachel Birthistle and her team who know this lake better than almost anyone.
