Laglio is a small village on Lake Como best known for one thing: George Clooney’s villa sits right there on the water. Dilara and Bora, a Turkish couple living in the UK, got married just down the shore from it, at Villa Regina Teodolinda and honestly, their view of the lake gives Clooney’s a real run for its money.
The villa sits at one of the narrowest points of Lake Como, with the opposite shore barely 650 meters away, and a private dock that puts the water within arm’s reach of the entire celebration. It’s an intimate, romantic kind of venue the sort of place that makes an international destination wedding feel personal rather than staged.
The day was planned by Blooming Eventi and Vitoria Mariane, who I’ve worked alongside on more than one wedding at this point always a good sign when a planner keeps getting chosen by couples coming from the other side of Europe. Photography was handled by Carolina Serafini, who collaborates often with Mariane and clearly knows this venue well. On second camera with me was Federico Sammartino, a Milan-based filmmaker I’ve worked with on several occasions.
Dilara and Bora now have two daughters, and they’re still every bit the couple they were on that lakeside terrace which is really the best outcome any wedding film could hope to capture.
